For night fishing, the right Fishing Lights can significantly improve your success.

Maximizing the Benefits of Fishing Lights

Understanding the Power of Fishing Lights

Using fishing lights can improve your catch during nighttime expeditions. Fishing with Technology is essential. If light manufacturers don’t provide education on their website, they rely on you to know how to fish with a fishing light. They are clearly stating they just build lights. Consumers often focus on the biggest marketing hook, which is lumens. This leads to marketing battles over lumens instead of focusing on what you truly need to get the most from your purchase.

MacDaddy fishing lights give you a window into the underwater ecosystem without disturbing the fish,

MacDaddy Fishing Lights offers a wide range of lights, from 3000 to 6000 lumens. We use lumens to backlight the target rather than light up a large area. Our patented formula lets us drop an 18 ft circle of lights 4-8 feet below the surface. This method backlights whatever swims above our lamp, allowing you to see every detail of your target. The water above the light remains unlit, so fish cannot see you. This technique is called the MacDaddy “Stealth mode.” Our patented anchoring system ensures the light remains stable, enhancing your fishing experience.

The Importance of Using Fishing Lights

With the right Fishing Lights, you can attract a larger variety of fish. There are two types: light-tolerant and light-intolerant fish for both freshwater and saltwater.

Our light can catch both kinds; 99.9% of other fishing lights on the market struggle with light-intolerant fish (walleye, snook, redfish, shrimp, tarpon, largemouth bass, flounder, crappie, squid, baitfish such as Minnows / Shad / Croaker / Pinfish. But the other 99.9% of fishing lights can catch light-tolerant fish.

The only way to catch LIGHT-INTOLERANT fish is in MacDaddy’s patented stealth mode, where the light does not alter their behavior.

Advanced fishing lights are essential for attracting ALL types of fish and improving your overall fishing experience. MacDaddy Fishing Lights wants to join the conversation with the fishing industry. Years ago, when I met anglers and wanted to talk about their success using fishing lights. I got a weird look and a wrinkled-nose expression. They told me they had no luck. Funny, luck was their only hope. Now, we have brought the truth to the industry with the receipts. You have a choice now. You can just chase luck with another product including your DIY or skill build, with a proven system that provides consistent results,

Deploying Fishing Lights effectively means more successful fishing trips.

The Science of Stealth Deployment with Fishing Lights

  • Choosing the right Fishing Lights can make a significant difference.
  • Learn how to maximize the effectiveness of your Fishing Lights for better results.
  • Mastering your deployment depth ensures optimal marine-life attraction with Fishing Lights. Use Capt. Lee Noga’s patented Depth Formula for calibration. For example, if you’re in 15 feet of water, the formula dictates that you should set the light at 7 feet. This creates an unlit zone above the light, allowing marine life to thrive undisturbed.

True SCIENCE is only possible when utilizing an EXPANDED purpose light. MacDaddy is the first light to bring purpose to both the end caps, which deliver the patented science. To achieve repeatable tactical advantages on the water, your equipment must meet three strict structural criteria:

    • Upright Vertical Orientation: The light must deploy vertically to 360-degree illumination, scientifically calculated to specific water depth. This is the first skill-building lesson. Random light toss is reckless. A calculated light deployment is repeatable, giving you consistent productivity
    • Precise Depth & Location Control: You must be able to control exactly where the light sits in the water column. Where the light sits in the water column is key. If you are in 15 feet of water, what depth do you set the light at? Answer: Formula (Depth 15 feet – 8) = 7 feet; touch the weight on your light anchor line, count up the rope 7 feet, and clip the light. This gives you 8 feet of unlit water above the light; this is stealth mode. Marine life will thrive above your light, calm and peaceful; the illumination anchored 7 feet from the river bottom is below the marine life, backlighting them (18 ft circular light field). You see them 100%; they do not see you or your boat because the water above the light (8 feet from the top of the lamp to the surface water) is NOT lit.
    • Adaptable Strategic Deployment: The system must offer adjustable modes and configurations to match changing marine conditions.

Deploying Fishing Lights strategically enhances your fishing experience. The right techniques ensure that your fishing lights maximize catch potential.

Fishing Lights play a crucial role in many successful fishing techniques.

Diagram on left; the image is sliced, and the first several feet of the top water ABOVE THE LAMP is unlit. The light illumination is about 5 feet thick; the water below the lamp is not UNLIT. Marine life will see your illumination and source the dark water above it. The area below the lamp is UNLIT, too small a space for them.

Understanding how to use Fishing Lights can elevate your fishing game.

With the right knowledge, Fishing Lights can effectively lure fish into your area. The diagram on your right illustrates your perspective from your boat, looking at the green water. It may appear fully illuminated, but it is actually not. The lamp’s 360-degree illumination is located 8 feet down, with the water above it remaining unlit. This unlit water serves as a superhighway for marine life.

The diagram on your right side shows you standing in your boat looking at the green water. You swear that water is lit all the way to the top. Trust us, it is not. You see the lamp’s 360-degree illumination 8 feet down. The 8 feet of water above is UN-LIT, and it’s this UN-LIT water (stealth mode) that is the new superhighway for marine life to feed and pass through. The plankton food cycle is taking place 8 feet around the lamp below the water surface,

Capt. Lee Noga developed a way to create a window into the marine-life world without disrupting the ecosystem. This approach sets the stage for effective trapping and hookups. The challenge lies with the 99.9% of underwater fishing lights on the market, which only focus on building a waterproof light source but lack educational support. MacDaddy fishing lights provide guidance from deployment to using multiple lights, enhancing your catch.

Article about MacDaddy fishing lights the science driven stealth mode awarded highest patent in the USA.

This is the problem Capt. Lee Noga has with the 99.9% of underwater fishing lights on the market. They built a waterproof light source. That’s what they promised. That is where their education stops. Once the purchase is over, the angler is left to fumble with the light and, more often than not, gets disappointed and gives up on it as a useful piece of gear. MacDaddy fishing lights accompany the customer from deploying the light to using multiple lights to herd targets to your nets and line with light frequency. Our customers stay in touch with us and share their success stories.

Here is our 1 hr 6 min (using shrimp as my target in video) YouTube Masterclass training program; the techniques are the same whether you’re hunting shrimp or tails/fins, and the science is the same. In my case, I teach using shrimp, the hardest species to catch because they are light-sensitive (so are redfish, snook, speckled trout, etc.)

These science-based teachings enable you to catch BOTH light-sensitive and light-insensitive species. The other 99.9% of the fishing light market do best with LIGHT-TOLERANT species only. The biggest difference between MacDaddy Fishing Lights and the others is that we can catch BOTH light-sensitive and light-insensitive species in the same night! 40K people wouldn’t follow a Boat Captain if this weren’t true; we’ve been selling MacDaddy fishing lights since 2012. We are not new. We are new to the National audience. We are the angler favorite in Florida.

Using fishing lights gives you a strategic advantage when fishing at night.

Ultimately, science is REPEATABLE and produces CONSISTENT results. Luck is RANDOM and produces INCONSISTENT results. By removing guesswork from your setup, you shift from relying on chance to executing a proven marine-life manipulation strategy.

Using fishing lights can give you a unique advantage at night.

    Setting The Perfect Depth

Understanding the Impact of Fishing Lights on Your Catch

Mastering your deployment depth ensures optimal marine-life attraction. Use the official Capt. Lee Noga patented Depth Formula to calibrate your system.

Fishing Lights can help create a favorable environment for catching various species.

The Depth Calculation Formula:  [DEPTH – 8]. This creates unlit water above the light, so fish feel safe at the top of the water column, away from the light. The light below illuminates an 18-foot-radius circle (depending on water clarity), and you’ll see anything that swims over the top of the lamp in unlit water. This is called backlighting or stealth mode

Capt. Lee Noga’s revolutionary marine research has officially evolved from theory to undeniable, on-camera proof.

For years, night fishing relied on high-powered illumination that flooded the water, blinding wildlife and sending target species into an immediate panic. Capt. Lee changed the sport forever by decoding how marine life responds to light frequencies, developing a science-based approach that preserves the nighttime ecosystem while driving unparalleled angling success.

Capt Lee Noga explains the science of backlighting to a store bought cookie

Investing in quality Fishing Lights can improve your success rate when fishing at night.

    • The diagram on the right shows your perspective from the boat, looking down at what appears to be fully illuminated green water (from the river bottom to the surface).
    • The diagram on the left reveals the actual science behind stealth mode, demonstrating that the entire upper layer of the water column above the lamp remains completely unlit, and the area below the lamp is unlit.
  • Learn how to effectively control your Fishing Lights to enhance your fishing strategy.
  • It is a true mind-bending illusion. When we look down at that glowing green surface, our brains naturally assume the illumination extends all the way to the top. In reality, the top 4 to 5 feet of water directly below the surface is completely dark. There is NO light illumination. The diagram on the left shows what we would see underwater, looking at the light field. The diagram on the left shows what you would see underwater, looking at the light field from a distance. Years ago, we sent down a diver; we know.

Maximizing the use of Fishing Lights is key to a successful night fishing outing. When you invest in quality Fishing Lights, you’re investing in your fishing success. As the day turns into night, Fishing Lights become essential for visibility. Fishing Lights should be a priority for any angler looking to maximize their success. Fishing Lights illuminate the water, making it easier to see and catch fish.

The proof is in the behavior captured right on camera. Take a look at this footage: a baby manatee swims calmly through a MacDaddy stealth mode light field that looks like lit water to the human eye (the water is actually unlit). To the animal, the surface water remains completely black, providing an absolute sense of safety. Normally, manatees avoid boats because they can visually detect the hull as a threat. However, MacDaddy lights engineered a breakthrough known as “black water tech,” or affectionately called Stealth-mode.

The moment to process is the first time you have a live window into the nighttime ecosystem. MacDaddy stealth mode does not disrupt the ecosystem thriving above our lights. You’re seeing nature thrive in a way that was never made available until Capt. Lee Noga innovated a way to fish an ecosystem without disrupting the balance. You’ve never seen this in real time. Reckless lighting that disrupts the ecosystem will not reward you.

By projecting the light spectrum strictly outward in a 360-degree circular pattern at a calculated depth, it creates a zone of natural black water directly above the anchored light source. The anchored boat remains entirely unlit (because of the light depth-setting formula). The animal senses no danger and sees no artificial glare from the boat’s fiberglass; it swims directly under the boat, completely calm and unbothered, continuing on its natural course.

Capt. Lee Noga proven science showing how to use multiple lights to manipulate the targets to your nets

STEALTH-MODE has changed night fishing. Did you know, Capt. Lee Noga started teaching these science-driven seminars 5 years before consumers encouraged her to build the perfect fishing light.

Yes, her groundbreaking research proved that the last 50 years of fishing lights focused on light engineering (building the light) in a factory setting, not on what happens when they’re deployed into the water. They misled anglers into believing lumens were the only feature that mattered. Different light builders entered the arena, mimicking the same blueprint, chasing easy money, and flooding Amazon with more high-lumen lights to gain market share; then other builders added more lumens, fighting for the dollars to stay competitive, and it scaled and got out of control: 30,000 lumens?

Science proves you need 3000-6000 lumens. Competition drove up lumens in fishing lights to line their pockets, with no regard for how the light will perform for the angler. To get the sale, builders wanted to have the highest lumens to 1 -up what is the standard in the market, but the consumer paid the price not just in money, but in failed results. When anglers come to us, they are ashamed of how many lights they’ve tried or how bad the customer service was with other products. They call us often. They are so frustrated. The happy ending is that we rehabilitate their love of night fishing, and they stay in contact with us, sharing their consistent successes.

    Anchoring Formula is 𝐃−8=𝐗

    • Attach a longline clip to the bottom of the light on the opposite side; there are 2 attachment points on the lower endcap, designed and patented to deliver our science. One attachment clip is for a longline clip; the other is for an attachment rope.
    • Tie no more than 20 feet of crab pot line to the bottom of your light
    • Add NO more than an 8 lb weight ( hand weight, pour concrete weights, etc)
    • Take your depth, subtract 8, and “X” is the number of feet you count upward from the lead and clip off with a longline clip.
    • D: Total water depth in feet (via sonar or estimate).
    • X: Measurement distance up from your anchor weight.
    • If your depth is 15 feet, the formula is 15(D) – 8 = 7(X); touch your weight, count up your anchor line 7 ft, and clip off. This creates the right amount of unlit water above your light for stealth fishing.

Understanding the Benefits of Fishing Lights

    Step-by-Step Deployment Steps:

  • Effective usage of Fishing Lights can enhance your catch rate significantly.
    1. Calculate your target: If total depth is 12 feet, your formula is (Depth-8+): 12- 8 = 4 feet
    2. Measure the rope: Touch your anchor weight. Count up 4 feet along the rope.
    3. Secure the line: Clamp the rope at that exact mark using the Longline Clip
    4. Inspect the field: Look closely into the active light field.

    Visual Calibration Check:

    • Identify targets: Can you mark any marine life or moving debris?
    • Adjustment protocol: If yes, pull the light back in. Move the clip 6 inches up the rope. Re-deploy the light.
    • The single biggest mistake happens three hours into the tide change, when the water level drops by a foot or more.
    • Because your lights are now too close to the surface, the shrimp change their behavior, swimming directly beneath your light field and right under the boat. Remember, Florida winter shrimp are light-sensitive, and your lights are pushing them down into darker water.

When you look over the side into your light field, you see no targets, just debris; you assume the shrimp run is officially over. But it’s not. The run is only over for you. At the 3-hour mark, the tide is ripping around a full moon, and trying to reset the lights is a nightmare; the lights slide back and settle near the boat hull.

You never want to see hot spots in your field. This means your lights are set too high, and you need to lower them in the water column so they look like the slide above. This example uses 3 lights to emphasize what’s happening.

Bad shrimping light field vs. great light field using MacDaddy fishing lights.

MacDaddy Fishing Lights – All our products require anchoring; our highest-tech light is the smart light. All our products create stealth mode.

The heart of the system is the patented, custom-designed Silicone Button. To switch illumination profiles on the fly with no tools, simply press the rubber button straight down until it hits the internal shrink wrap.

    • Mode 1: Full Power (Green & White LEDs) – The most popular mode for fishing in waters deeper than 7 feet. The integrated white LEDs deliver enhanced vertical depth visuals through the water column.
    • Mode 2: All Green Only – A specialized “Non-Glare” mode engineered for sandy, gritty, or high-particulate water where white light reflects harshly off floating sand.
    • Mode 3: All White Only – A purely tactical profile designed for land-based utility, including camping, emergency 12v boat stern lighting, hurricane preparedness, or changing a flat tire on the highway. Land-
    • Mode 4: Half Power (Green & White LEDs) – A dedicated tool for shallow water under 7 feet deep. Ideal for pier use or navigating shallow cuts like those found in the Florida Keys.
    • Mode 5: High-Speed Strobe – A disruptive profile engineered to break up and back off aggressive catfish or dense bait pods that hover over and completely black out your light field. Nuisance fish are typically cleared out in less than 5 minutes. Warning: Avoid looking into the light field if you have epilepsy or a light-sensitive medical condition.
    • Mode 6: Low-Speed Strobe – A target-manipulation mode designed to boil larger shrimp up from the lower water column. This is a highly popular profile that many anglers leave active all night. Pro Tip: Run only one light in slow strobe mode at a time to prevent eye fatigue. Warning: Avoid looking directly into the light if you have a light-sensitive medical condition.
    • Mode 7: Half Power Slow Strobe – A dual-purpose shallow-water tactical tool. It is excellent for pier anglers navigating shallow 7-foot cuts in the Florida Keys. In Central Florida, it serves perfectly as a “sacrificial light” positioned 2 feet off the bottom to drive jumbo shrimp up into the upper water column for easy harvesting. Warning: Avoid looking at the light if you have light sensitivity.
    • Mode 8 [/SOS]: Emergency Signal Mode – An active, built-in distress beacon engineered onto the internal processor chip to provide critical safety visibility during nighttime emergencies. Regulatory Notice: This mode is designed as an emergency beacon but is NOT Coast Guard certified as an official life-saving safety device.
MacDaddy Smart Fishing Light 8 Modes

BAIT Blackout – every single fishing light on the market will attract bait fish, which can black out your light-blocking illumination. The bait can be invasive and will hover in large numbers, encapsulating your light and making it look like your battery died. There is NO way to stop the bait from ruining your night. Your light caused this issue by attracting bait.

    • Capt. Lee Noga discovered a specific light frequency designed to aggressively disrupt and offend the junk fish, which will slowly back away, allowing the light to illuminate partially. You will most likely have to strobe On/Off for the rest of the night. BUT it lets you stay and still hook up or net.
    • This strobe is so powerful that you cannot look directly at it without feeling the effect.

Activating it will break up the tight ball of bait within 45 seconds, opening the jam just enough for your light field to peek through. Will it give you 100% of your clean light field back? No. But it will give you enough visibility to keep harvesting successfully. When the bait is thick, you might be in this gunfight for a while, which means you’ll need to fire the strobe often to keep the zone clear.
