MacDaddy Fishing Light’s patented research has proven you need multiple tools, education, and the ability to customize your light set in the water. Fishing at night has a delicate ecosystem, requiring the angler to be light-responsible, especially if chasing light-sensitive species. Marine life thrives in unlit water, and blindly introducing light into the environment can silently sabotage your success.

An LED fishing light source with a cord is only a partial solution in a sport that demands options. Past fishing lights oversimplified the sport, blocking the angler from deploying any light strategy. 

Fishing lights have evolved very little in the last 70 years. What changed was the type of light source (incandescent, halogen, fluorescent, and now LED). .

Shrimping was one of the most frustrating sports in Florida’s tidal waters.

The introduction of LEDs in 2009 in homemade fishing lights allowed Capt Lee Noga to play with the light buoyancy and study the response of shrimp to several different light presentations & studies.

Over the years, thousands of anglers have scrutinized her studies, and now they are considered the gold standard for this night fishing.

The fishing light retail market in 2025 has stayed unchanged for 50+ years. For decades, retailers have continued to manufacture and/or sell a “lamp source on a cord.” 

For years, anglers had to adapt to the limitations of their low-tech lights. We took the mistakes made by the fishing light industry for 50+ years and added in years of research on how to manipulate marine life, bringing the sport of night fishing into the 21st century.
