Rinse the light and the battery connectors with fresh water after every use.
Apply electrical grease to the spring inside the alligator clip as needed to prevent corrosion.
Inspect the function of the battery clip and ensure the upper and lower jaw of the clip are aligned.
Inspect the side of the battery clip that has the blue/brown wire attached. Ensure there is NO corrosion on the contacts.
Stow the MacDaddy lamp inside the zipper bag to prevent UV light from yellowing the acrylic glue covering the LEDs.
Inspect the anchoring/rope attachment for any damage to the metal hook or green resin end caps.
Inspect the flotation assembly, the rope knots and any abrasions or cuts to the cord.
Check the stainless steel split rings for wear and fatigue. A failed ring can result in the loss of the flotation accessories & the anchoring system. Replace them with 3/4" - 1 inch stainless steel split rings.
Inspect the ball chain rigging and the buoy float for damage.
Repair/Replacing Battery Alligator Clips
You may customize your battery connectors. Improper installation of your custom battery connectors can void your warranty if they lead to light failure.
Solder all exposed copper wire and thin wire fibers of frayed exposed copper. Excessive corrosion of the light battery contact wires can void your warranty.
Inspect the clip and ensure there is good contact between the wire and the clip
Test the battery clips when finished.
The best solder is fine electrical solder.
Clips need to be changed based on wear and tear. It is recommended to change the battery clips them every 2 years.
Inspect the anchor hardware that attaches the rope.
